Some brave boys in the besieged area of Aleppo have been gathering old tires and burning them in order to create a smoke screen over their neighborhoods to deter warplanes of Russia and the Assad regime and send a message to the world.
Some people are interpreting the intervention of those brave boys as proof that they belong to a spoiled and aggressive generation of Syrian children instead of as a courageous response to the continuous aerial attacks upon them by Assad and the Russians.
Although it is true that young boys should not be at the frontlines of fighting at this age, their response to perpetrators − who have already labeled them as “terrorists” − was not armed and was a civilized way of communicating with the world from which they have been cut off through a smoke signal that says “remove death aircraft away from us.”
While they work to gather the tires and set them ablaze − as a message they hope the whole world will see and respond to − the boys further display their courage and unity by singing victory songs with lyrics that revolve around the tires:
“Oh tires… let your smoke dance in the sky
Oh tires… your smoke will turn off the light
Oh tires… your smoke caused blindness to the brutal pilots
Oh tires… keep on burning.”
In response to what is happening in Aleppo, Assad gave orders to block all cars from coming through on the roads leading into the Al-Muhajreen neighborhood where he lives − which has not made the others who live there very happy.
It appears to be pretty obvious who the brave boys are and who is the cowardly lion in Syria.
